KSP Sgt. Brett Stuart Miller

KSP Sgt. Brett Stuart Miller, age 51, of Almo, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home.

Sgt. Miller was born on October 9, 1974, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was 1994 graduate of Calloway County High School, and was of the Baptist faith. Sgt. Miller began his career with the Kentucky State Police in 2005 upon graduating from KSP Cadet Class 85. He had previously served with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office beginning in 1999, as well as dedicating time to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office before joining the Kentucky State Police. During his time with KSP, Sgt. Miller served selflessly in his roles as a trooper, detective, squad sergeant, detective sergeant, and canine sergeant. He has received honors such as being named the Post 1 Detective of the Year in 2013 and 2014, and the state-wide KSP Detective of the Year in 2014.

To know Brett was to love him. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He cherished his family and his community above all else, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Brett had a lifelong love of sports, whether he was playing, coaching, or cheering from the stands. He was a devoted fan of the Texas A&M Aggies, Murray State, and local West Kentucky school athletics. Above all, Brett had a heart of gold. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved defined the way he lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Modelle Miller and Joe Pat and Wilma Farley.

Survivors include his parents, David H. and Meredith Farley Miller, of Murray, Kentucky;

Two brothers, Matthew Miller of Murray, Kentucky and Michael Miller and wife Brandy of Seabrook, Texas; nephew, David M. Miller II of Covington, Kentucky and niece Allison Miller of Murray, Kentucky. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, including retired KSP K9 Baxi.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Lovett Auditorium on the Campus of Murray State University. Eddie Clyde Hale and Mike Daniels will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Lovett Auditorium.
