Mr. Larry Thomas Harris, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at the St. Joseph Jessamine Hospital in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
Mr. Harris was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on December 16, 1942, to the late Rupert Harris and Ruby (Willoughby) Harris. He retired from Briggs and Stratton and formerly worked for Tappan. He also painted houses for many people in Calloway County. He was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church. Many people knew him as Strawberry. He found solace in life through the smiles of others. His day wasn’t complete until he had made someone laugh. You would question whether it was insult or slander, but soon realize it was an assault of love. He spent his days going to Hih-Burger, Rudy’s Diner, and McDonalds; there he spent time drinking coffee with numerous friends, trying to solve the world’s problems. He really enjoyed spending time on his porch with friends, family and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Browning) Harris; one sister, Valta Ross; three brothers, W.H., Glen, and Ralph Harris.
Survivors include his daughter, Gina (Harris) Slack of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two step-daughters, Kendra Gray of Paducah, Kentucky and Jamie Hogan and husband Patrick of Blairsville, Georgia; one step-son, Kent Poindexter and wife Crystal of Salem, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Nathan Thomas Slack, Asher Beau Slack, and Ruby Emma Slack all of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Lillie and Colton Poindexter both of Salem, Kentucky, and Fynnton Gray of Paducah, Kentucky; his beloved longtime girlfriend, Ann Hiter of Murray, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
