Leo Nelson

Mr. Leo Thomas Nelson, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Nelson was born in Gary, Indiana on April 23, 1933 to the late Leo Ver Nelson and Anna Yurich Nelson. Mr. Nelson retired as a Jewel T Man and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the Poplar Spring Baptist Church and a member of the Adult II Sunday school class.

In addition to his parents Mr. Nelson is preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Hebert Nelson.

Survivors include his wife, Shelley Nelson to whom he married on April 6, 2002 in Murray, Kentucky; one daughter, Sara Smith of Tobaccoville, North Carolina; two sons, Jack Nelson of Chicago, Illinois and Tim Nelson of Homewood, Illinois; as well as 16 grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Ison officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral hour at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Homewood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Homewood, Illinois.
