Mr. Lester Byers, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.
He was a retired cook; he was a World War II Army veteran of the 430th Anti-Aircraft; he was of Methodist Faith.
He was born August 6, 1923 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Rochie and Effie McClure Byers; in addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his brother Cortez Byers.
He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Whiteside and husband Richard of Roscommon, Michigan; three grandchildren, Richard Whiteside, Teri Barnaby and husband Craig, and Dawn Whiteside; also survived by special friend and caregiver, Kristi Hobbs and special friend Bonnie Hale both of Murray, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 10:00 am till funeral hour Friday.
