Mrs. Lila Futrell Oakley, 96, of Murray, KY died Monday, September 17, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Oakley was born in Trigg County, KY on March 23, 1916 to the late Martin Futrell and Ida Mae Dixon Futrell. Mrs. Oakley was a quilter, and had also worked in several area restaurants including the Sunset Inn located in Golden Pond, KY. Mrs. Oakley was a member of the former Golden Pond Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakley was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Jesse James Oakley, who died in 2009; one daughter, Ora Mae Hunter; one sister, Tilda Futrell Oakley; and by two, brothers, Roy and Odell Futrell.
Mrs. Oakley is survived by one daughter, Vickey Lane and husband Jimmie of Cadiz, KY; one son, M.C. Oakley and wife Fay of Murray, KY; seven grandchildren, Melanie Atwill and husband J.L. of Fulton, KY, Marty Hunter and wife Pat of Cadiz, KY, Kathy Coleman and husband Steve of FL, Ricky Oakley and wife Tammy of FL, Mark Lane and wife Tina of Cadiz, KY, Camille Lane of Frankfort, KY and Michael Oakley of FL; several great grandchildren ;one great- great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; as well as her caregivers, June Young, Linda Crouch, Virgie Ramsey, Jean Bird and Pam Butler all of Murray,KY.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Elm Grove Cemetery with Bro. Irvin Darnall officiating. Burial to follow. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
