Linda Newsom Smith

Mrs. Linda Newsom Smith age 73, of Murray, Ky., died Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tn.

Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 22, 1938 in Bedford Co. Tennessee, to the late Frank and Virginia Redd Newsom. She was a retired tax accountant, was a graduate of Lipscomb University with a B.S., and was a member of the University Church of Christ, were she was a faithful Christian by teaching ladies bible school class, and teaching English to international students. She also volunteered for CASA.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Smith of Murray, they married June 9, 1962 in Nashville, Tn., one son, Jeffrey Smith and wife Vickie of Murfreesboro, Tn., two daughters, Ginny Ropp and husband Loren of Smyrna, Tn., and Stacey Smith of Murray, sister, Chloetta Bickar and husband Ray of Charlotte, N.C., three brothers, Rick Newsom, Kenneth Newsom and wife Linda, and Tom Newsom all of Cuyahoga Falls, Oh., five grandchildren, Kristen Harvey and husband Josh of Murfreesboro, Tn., Lindsay Smith of Murfreesboro, Tn., Collin Smith of Murfreesboro, Tn., Alex and Matthew Ropp both of Smyrna, Tn., also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Charley Bazzell and Richard Youngblood will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
