Lou Ann Lawrence McCallon, age 83, of the Stella Community passed peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky after a short illness surrounded by her children.
Lou Ann was born June 13, 1933 to Nathan E. and Barnell Smith Lawrence in Graves County, Kentucky. She was the second of six children. She grew up in the Lynn Grove Community in Calloway County and graduated from Lynn Grove High School in 1953. Lou Ann married the love of her life, Howard K (Buster) McCallon on June 13, 1953. She and Buster were blessed with three children: Phill Keith, Tonia Marie and Mark Thomas.
Lou Ann faithfully attended Kirksey United Methodist Church and raised her children to love God. She and Buster were instrumental in establishing and volunteering at the Kirksey Ball Park. Lou Ann was a homemaker until after Buster's death in September 1984. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and 4H volunteer. Lou Ann worked for Dillon Clothing and West Kentucky Rural Electric in Mayfield. After her retirement from West Kentucky Rural Electric, she volunteered countless hours at Need Line.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brother, Joe B. Lawrence; brother-in-laws: Jewell McCallon and Hiram Riley; and sister-in-law, Marie Riley.
She is survived by her three children: Phill Keith McCallon (Claydean) of Kirksey, Kentucky; Tonia Marie McCallon Casey (Paul) of Murray, Kentucky and Mark Thomas McCallon (Stefanie) of Covington, Kentucky. She is also survived by her brother, Tom E. Lawrence (Anna) of Fallon, Nevada; sisters Ina L. Masters of Cocoa, Florida, Nola Jean Eldon (Darryl) of Ft Myers, Florida; Vickie Kay Wilkinson of Garden City, Georgia and sister-in-laws Betty Lawrence of Murray, Kentucky and Datha McCallon of Kirksey, Kentucky. Lou Ann is also survived by five grandchildren: Saresa Dawn Casey of Bradenton, Florida; Jesse Keith McCallon (Katy) of Crossville, Tennessee; Pvt. Johnathan Ross McCallon (Crystal) of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Erin McCallon of Kirksey, Kentucky; and Nathan Howard McCallon of Covington, Kentucky. Lou Ann was blessed with two great grandchildren: Bradley Thomas and Paisley Jade McCallon of Ft Bragg, North Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Sara Edwards, Shelby Hurt, James and Joan Harrison, and Max Rogers.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5 pm – 8 pm at the J H Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, Kentucky. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the chapel of the funeral at 1:00 pm. Lou Ann cherished Buster, her family, her circle of friends, her church and her community. Most of all she loved she love her Savior, Jesus Christ.
