Mrs. Marelle Stiles Andrus, 99, of Murray, Kentucky died Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mrs. Andrus was born in Murray, Kentucky on May 4, 1914 to the late Luther Stiles and Amy (Taylor) Stiles. Mrs. Andrus was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Murray and a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class and in recent years had been attending Northside Baptist Church. She was a member of the Home Department in the Murray Woman's Club. Mrs. Andrus had worked at Mademoiselle's ladies clothing store, Winslow Cafeteria at Murray State University, and volunteered for over 20 years at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Andrus was preceded in death by her husband, Carney Andrus, to whom she married on December 24, 1930 in Paris, Tennessee; one sister, Nellie Farris; and by three brothers, Charlie Stiles, Jake Stiles and Bill Stiles.
Mrs. Andrus is survived by one daughter, Shirley Washer and husband Jamie of Murray; one son, Steve Andrus and fiancé Cindy Veach of Murray; one sister, Ann Goodwin of Ruidoso, New Mexico; one brother, L.C. Stiles and wife Phyllis of Roswell, New Mexico; sister in law, Evelyn Stiles of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, Scott Andrus, Shane Andrus, Jaina Gourgeot and husband Mike, Jann Mayes and husband James and Dr. Bart Washer and wife Belinda; five great grandchildren; as well as one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. – until funeral hour (1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
