Mrs. Margaret Ruth Lamb Cavitt age 85 of Murray, Ky., died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Martin Health Care facility, in Martin, Tn.
Margaret was born June 18, 1926 in Murray, Kentucky to Gus and Victoria Youngblood Lamb. On June 7, 1945, she married her husband of 63 years, John B Cavitt of Murray who preceded her in death. Margaret is survived by two children, Cecilia Faye Dunn, wife of Roy Gene Dunn of Murray, and Rev. Joe Steven Cavitt, husband of Teresa Gay Joseph Cavitt of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Carole Jean Dunn Downs, wife of Terry Downs of Murray and Christina Anne Dunn Hamilton, wife of Kevin Hamilton of Martin, Tennessee; Jeremiah Stephen Cavitt, husband of Kellie Beasley Cavitt of Jackson, Tennessee and Joseph Jathaniel Cavitt, husband of Jennifer Reynolds Cavitt of Cordova, Tennessee, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer Downs Dusenbury, wife of Matt Dusenbury of Murray, Kentucky; Kadin Bryant Hamilton and Cody Cavitt Hamilton of Martin, Tennessee; Knox Christian Cavitt, Sy Caleb Cavitt and Grace Abney Cavitt of Jackson, Tennessee and Macy Nicole Cavitt and Charlotte Marie Cavitt of Cordova, Tennessee and two great-great grandsons, Preston and Paxton Dusenbury.
Margaret is also survived by her brother, Charles E. Lamb, and his wife, Molly, also of Murray.
Margaret was a homemaker and was employed at Murray State University. She graduated from Murray Training School and was a member of the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed serving as the pianist and organist and a lifetime member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed working with genealogy and was a member of the Murray Woman's Club.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 2 pm at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Pastors Steve Cavitt, Jathaniel Cavitt and Randy Lowe will officiate and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.
