Mrs. Margaret Key Crawford, age 91, of the Lynn Grove, Kentucky, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
She retired from the Calloway County School System from Southwest Elementary and the former Lynn Grove School. She had a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Murray State University; she was a member of the first pledge class of Sigma Sigma Sigma; she was a member of the Lynn Grove United Methodist Church; she was an avid artist and member of the Kentucky Guild of Arts & Craftsmen and the Murray Art Guild; she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; she was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers and Southwest Retired Teachers.
She was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on October 21, 1922 to the late Clifton and Lottie Lillian Chambers Key. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by one brother, James Harris Key.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Crawford of Lynn Grove, Kentucky; they were married on June 15, 1946 at Salem Baptist Church one daughter, Victoria Crawford Lewis and husband Harold of Pearland, Texas; one sister, Janet Key Humphries of Paris, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Kerri James Garrett and husband Todd of Pearland, Texas; two great grandchildren, Wesley Crawford Garrett and Margaret "Meg" Elizabeth Garrett; one sister-in-law, June Paschall Crawford of Murray, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 12, 2014 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Tim Palmer and Rev. Kenny Locke will officiate with burial to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
