Mrs. Marie Lassiter, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 4:45 a.m. at her residence.
She was the owner operator of the Mademoiselle Shop in Murray for 30 years. She was a member of the Murray First United Methodist Church where she participated in the Wesleyan Circle and the Young Adult Sunday School Classes. She was also a Member of the Murray Woman’s Club and a Charter Member of the Murray County Club. She also actively participated in the Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts, also in her Bridge Club till her health failed.
She was born in Calloway County Kentucky March 22, 1925 to the late H. B. “Bunch” and Mary Lucille West Jones. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband James “Jiggs” Lassiter, and one son Timothy Lee Lassiter.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Gilpatrick of Murray Kentucky, one son, James Michael Lassiter of Murray Kentucky , one sister, Betty Lawrence and husband Joe of Murray Kentucky, one brother, Pat Jones and wife Doris of Sikeston Missouri, four grandchildren, Steven Lassiter, Julie Meusel, James Steven Backer, Patricia Marie Lassiter, two great grandchildren, Addison Backer and Lucy Noelle Meusel.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Smith and John Dale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010
