Martha Cherry

Mrs. Martha Cherry, 95, of Murray, KY, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 7:43 p.m. at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital. Mrs. Cherry was born in Murray, KY on January 26, 1916 to the late Buford H. Houston and Gladys Morris Houston. Mrs. Cherry was retired and the previous owner of The Cherry’s and The Cherry Branch Clothing Stores. Mrs. Cherry was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Garden Department of Murray Woman’s Club.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver G. Cherry and one brother, John Morris Houston.
Mrs. Cherry is survived by one daughter, Janice Lou Sutton and husband Rick of Atlanta, GA; one grandchild, Taylor Austin Sutton of Lexington, KY; nephews, Gary B. Houston of Paducah, KY, Don Cherry of Morehead, KY, Stan Downs of Murray, KY and Steve Downs of Murray, KY; one great niece, Lisa Houston Ahearn of Louisville, KY; one great nephew Brent Alan Houston of Dallas, TX; two great great nieces, Clancy Anne Ahearn and Virginia Elizabeth Houston; one great great nephew, John Morris Ahearn.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Murray City Cemetery with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. No Visitation is scheduled. The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
