Mary Frankie Darnell

Mrs. Mary Franklin "Frankie" Richie Darnell, 87 of the Coldwater Community died on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Mrs. Darnell was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on November 30, 1925 to the late Carrie Richie and Erma Cooper Richie. Mrs. Darnell retired from the Merritt Clothing Company after 40 years of service and she was a member of the Coldwater Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Darnell was preceded in death by her first husband, Cody Tidwell; second husband, Hess Darnell; sister, Anna Nell Young; brother, Charlie Richie; and by three half-sisters, Myrtle Byrd, Margaret Carter and Roxie Majors.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by one sister, Sue Melash and husband Jim of Michigan; one brother, Harry Richie and wife, Juanita of St. Louis, Missouri; three step sons, Howard Darnell, Rob Darnell and Harold Darnell all of Murray; three sister in laws, Wanda Richie of Arizona, Helen Tidwell of Murray and Nancy Tucker of Murray; foster children, Robert Acree of Mayfield, Kentucky, Debbie Warner of Paducah, Kentucky, Dennis Vowell of Colorado and Chucky Vowell of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jody Acree and April Acree – Dickman both of Mayfield; five great grandchildren, Jackson Chapman, Isaac Chapman, Gracie Acree, Eli Acree and Lincoln Acree.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Brad McNutt officiating. Burial to follow in Coldwater Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
