Dr. Mary Frank Holcomb (Valentine) transcended her earthly body on March 14, 2026.
Mary had the pleasure of serving as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor in the Murray area for many years. She also enjoyed serving with the Murray City School System as elementary school counselor for fifteen years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and attended Brooks Chapel Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank Holcomb, former owner of Holcomb Chevrolet in Murray, and her mother Mary Angelyn Thompson Holcomb (Trixie).
Her grandfather Samuel Frances Holcomb was born in Murray and was chairman of the Murray City School Board for 20 years and secretary of the Rotary Club 15 years. He was in the group that helped organize Murray College in 1923. Her maternal grandfather; was Judge JJ Thompson in Paris TN where he served as Mayor for many years. Also preceding her is her soulmate James Dwain Nesbitt.
She is survived by her daughter Lee Holcomb and two grandsons, Jackson and Vincent Webb of Boise, Idaho and long-time friend Mary Warren Swann Sanders who she regarded as a sister and second mother to her daughter Lee.
Mary Frank’s passion was helping families and children and being with her dogs and riding her horses. She was devoted to children and animals.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Murray City Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Rudy will officiate and burial will follow. No public visitation will be held.
Expressions of appreciation for Mary’s life may be given to either First United Methodist Church or Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Calloway County.
