Mary Catherine Purdom

Ms. Mary Catherine Purdom, age 96, of Glendale Place, Murray, KY, died, March 11, 2011 at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital. She was born October 20, 1914, in Murray, KY, to the late William Sandy and Hallie Farmer Purdom. She retired from the Murray State University Business Office and prior to that she was a school teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Murray, KY, where she previously taught Sunday school.
Ms. Purdom was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sue Goodman; and an infant brother.
Ms. Purdom is survived by niece, Joe Ann (Mike) Sullivan of Highland, Illinois; nephews, Samuel A. (Judy) Goodman, Jr. of Huntington, Tennessee, and Ed Lee (Martha) Goodman of Paris, Tennessee; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray City Cemetery. Jim Stahler and Rev. Bob Saywell will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
