Mary Saunooke

Mary Steele Saunooke, age 91, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was born in Hazel, KY on November 15th, 1926. She was an Extension Agent for the Kentucky Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, serving as the organization's president from 1967 to 1969.
She is survived by one step-son, Bill Saunooke (Cathy); one step-grandson, William Saunooke; two nieces, Sheila Bennett Roche and Carol Steele Dukes; three nephews, Gerald Steele (Barbara), Gary Bennett (Judy), and David Steele; five great-nieces and nephews, Erin Roche, Brenna Roche Jones, Michael Steele, Ira Bennett (Sarah), Andrew Bennett (Rachel); and four great-great nieces and nephews, Brendan Jones, Mabel and Fern Bennett, and Calvin Bennett. She is also survived by Darrell Lyons (Pam) who she humorously called her "illegally adopted son."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Choya Saunooke; her parents, Finis and Matry Steele; one brother and one sister, Carlos Steele and Maureen Bennett.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 20th, from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Masons Chapel United Methodist Church in Hazel, KY. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the church on Saturday, January 20th, 2018. Burial will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hazel, Ky. Rev. Darrell Lyons will be officiating.
