Mary Julia Thurmond

Mrs. Mary Thurmond, age 87, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 12:05 pm at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Ky.
Mrs. Thurmond was born April 29, 1925 in Calloway Co., Ky., to the late Harper and Velma Pace Swift. She was a homemaker, and member of the Goshen United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Thurmond and wife Pat of Mayfield, KY, Randy Thurmond and wife Nancy of Murray, and Gary Thurmond and wife Mary also of Murray, Ky. One sister, Pat Mahanna of St. Louis, Mo., one brother, Bill Swift and wife Pearl of Eddyville, Ky., also four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil E. Thurmond, one brother, Eldridge Swift, five sisters, Nadine Drinkard, Nell Dodd, Joceal Lutzke, Jean Thurmond, and Betty Hook.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. David Allbritten will officiate and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
