Mrs. Maxine Houston, 80, of Murray, Ky., died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:07 p.m. at Hickory Woods Retirement Center.
She was a homemaker, attended Murray Training School, and was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Houston was also a member of the Adult’s women’s Sunday school class and the W.M.U. She was born Dec. 22, 1929 in Calloway Co., Ky. She had volunteered at Needline for over 10 years, and was a very avid M.S.U. basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Annette Baccus (Lindsey) of Cadiz, Ky., two sons, Phil Houston (Lisa) of Springfield, Tn., Rex Houston of Murray, Ky., two grandchildren, April Haneline Tybor of Denver, Co., and Amanda Haneline Hopper of Nashville, Tn., one great grandchild, Chole Layne Hopper of Nashville, Tn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Houston, parents, Walter and Estell Evans Elkins, two sisters, Rozzella Williams, and Shirley Grey Elkins.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Bro. Hal Shipley will officiate and burial will be in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday, August 9, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
