Mildred Hollingsworth (Buice) Tynes went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 5, 2011.
She was born on the first day of spring, March 21, 1931 to Fulton and Effie Hollingsworth. She was raised in the Judsonia area, where she met and married Jack P. Buice, and had her only child, Amanda Kay Buice (Lohec). She later married Rupert Tynes and moved to Murray, KY where she lived until 2008, when she moved to Pearland, TX to be near her daughter. She was a hair dresser for many years in Murray, where she was companion and caregiver to many of her clients. She was active in her Sunday school and church all her life, and was a member of Eastwood Baptist in Murray. After moving to Pearland, she attended Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Houston with her family. She delighted in her only grandchild, Savannah Arianna Rosamond Lohec, and had a very special relationship with her son-in-law Larry Lohec. She loved her family very much and looked forward each year to the family reunions in Judsonia and beach retreats in Georgia with her sister and her family..
She is survived by her loving daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter; sister Daisy Hollingsworth Keith, eleven nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, nephew and husband. A celebration of her life will be held at Judsonia First Baptist Church, and a graveside service will be held in Murray, KY. As a special tribute, her granddaughter will play a harp solo of “NoNo’s” favorite song “How Great Thou Art”.
She survived a major heart attack, breast cancer, and primary lung cancer, only to have lost the battle to another type of lung cancer, after being cancer free for eleven years. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of MD Anderson Lung Cancer Center for those years, and asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the research center there, or to one of her two churches (Eastwood or Cokesbury).
She will be missed here on earth, but we know she will be with our many family members in Heaven.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Murray City Cemetery with Bro. John Renfro officiating; Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 Friday, July 8, 2011 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
