Murray

Joanne Fuller passed away February 4, 2025, at Murray Calloway County Hospital. The family wants to thank the highly skilled and compassionate caregivers who helped through this difficult time. Joanne was 96. She was born January 31, 1929.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband Dick Fuller of 69 years, children Claire Fuller of Murray and Jeff Fuller of Alameda, CA. Also, Joanne was blessed with two grandchildren, Niko Sikkel of Nashville and Aaron Sikkel of Bowling Green. Joanne has one surviving brother Steven Wolfberg who lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Eleanor Smith and Eleanor’s husband, Larry Smith.

Joanne was born in the small farming town of Wakarusa, IN to Louis and Rhoda Wolfberg. Lou and Rhoda owned the general store and the candy store in Wakarusa. The family moved to South Bend IN when Joanne was 5. Joanne graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Art. After graduating college, she wanted to live in Chicago. So, she moved there and got a job at Time magazine. A couple of years later she met and married her husband Dick Fuller. The couple lived in Chicago for a few years and had their two children Jeff and Claire.

Dick had a business opportunity with Midas Muffler in Grand Rapids MI, where they moved. They eventually owned three dealerships. But Dick and Joanne decided to move to San Diego CA because Dick loved tennis, and he could play all year in San Diego. Joanne loved the weather, and she liked a larger city.

Joanne liked crafts like sewing and knitting. She was an excellent cook. She had a knack for decorating and helped design her homes and Dick’s business. She had a great interest in modern art. Joanne also volunteered for the American Cancer Society for many years. Joanne and Dick moved to Murray three years ago to be near their daughter and grandchildren.

Joanne was a loving mother and wife as well as a beautiful, sweet, stylish person. Joanne also was smart and would tell you what she thought. What she thought was usually right.

Joanne will be missed by many and especially her husband and children that thought the world of her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please send charitable donations to the Humane Society of Calloway County or the American Cancer Society.
