Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thurman

        Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thurman, age 94, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Calvert City Nursing and Rehab, in Calvert City, Kentucky.

Mrs. Thurman was born on October 6, 1929, in Kirksey, Kentucky, to the late Ocus R. Swift and Della Tidwell Swift. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Stewart Thurman, one sister, Calista Spencer and one brother, Roy Swift.

          Mrs. Thurman retired from retail sales, having worked at the Garment Plant, Kuhn’s Dime Store, Lermans, Big K, Brights, Susie Q’s, Dairy Queen, Walmart, Singer Sewing and JC Penney. She was also a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.

          Survivors include two daughters, Jean Roberts and husband Gene and Ann T. Parker all of Murray, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Terri Roberts Walston and husband Terry of Almo, Kentucky, Greg Roberts of Murray, Kentucky, John Parker and wife Tammy of Murray, Kentucky, and Amy Parker Thompson and husband Oliver of Louisville, Kentucky; three great grandchildren, Jordan Roberts and wife Kristina, Logan Parker and wife Jaclin, and Alex P. Thompson; as well as four great great grandchildren, Raegan Roberts, Clay Roberts, and Cameron & Collins Parker. As well as several nieces and nephews. 

          A private family graveside service will be held in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
