Nellie Malys

Mrs. Nellie Malys, age 92, of Murray, Kentucky, died on December 27, 2019, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
Mrs. Malys was born on June 11, 1927, in Jamesville, New York, to the late Nicholas Baczynski and Sophie (Winnicki) Baczynski. Mrs. Malys retired from the central service department with St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Mrs. Malys was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Malys was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Malys; one brother, Nick Baczynski; and by two sisters, Julia Walters and Rose Beers.
Mrs. Malys is survived by two daughters, Deborah Jean Polley of Memphis, New York and Mary Ann Orr and husband Terry of Hazel, Kentucky; one sister, Eva Hapanowich of El Cerrito, California; four grandchildren, Matthew Polley of Syracuse, New York, Michelle Peters and husband Andrew of North Salem, New York, Lee Ann Orr of Hazel, Kentucky and Erin Orr of Hazel, Kentucky; one great-grandchild, Noah Andrew Peters; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no local services at this time. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. A private graveside service will be held in Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse, New York.
The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of local arrangements.
