Nerene Thomas

Mrs. Nerene Fielder Thomas, 93, of Murray, KY died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Thomas was born August 16, 1919 in Calloway Co., Ky., to the late Willis and Bulah Steele Fielder. She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church, and was an expert seamstress, making hundreds of beautiful dresses for her four daughters in their youth. She pieced and stitched many quilts admired by all. Later in life she grew irises, daylilies and other flowers admired by many in our community.
She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Suiter and husband Larry of Murray, Ky., Betty Haley and husband James of Almo, Ky., Judy Madura and husband Jack of Springfield, Il., and Shirley Thomas of Murray, Ky., one brother, James A. Fielder of Murray, Ky., nine grandchildren, Keith Wicker and wife Teresa of Almo, Ky., Michael Wicker and wife Rhonda of Almo, Ky., Belinda Taylor and husband Joe Dan of Almo, Teresa Rose and husband Todd of Puryear, Tn., Mark Doran and husband Tammy of Murray, Allison Herbst and husband Matt of Springfield, Il., John Madura and wife Annalise of Rochester, Minn., also Megan and Scott Madura both of Springfield, Il., also sixteen great grandchildren survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mason Thomas, sister, Buna Sue Fielder, and brother, Orvis Fielder.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Calvin Wilkins will officiate and burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
