Mr. Oid "O.L." Luther Robertson, Jr.

Mr. Oid “O.L.” Luther Robertson, Jr., age 82, of Puryear, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Passion and Purpose Homecare in Murray, Kentucky.

Mr. Robertson, Jr. was born on October 26, 1943, in Crockett County, Tennessee to the late Oid Luther Robertson, Sr. and Lorene (Vandyke) Robertson. He graduated from the University of Tennessee – Martin and continued his education at the University of Wyoming obtaining a Masters degree in Animal Science. He was of the Methodist Faith. Mr. Robertson and his family lived for many years in Lebanon, MO where he worked as a Livestock and 4-H Youth Specialist with the University of Missouri Extension Service. He retired from his first career in 2000 and then moved to Murray. He didn’t stay retired long and began teaching Animal Science at Murray State University in 2001. O.L. enjoyed being around college students and said they kept him young. He mentored many people throughout his life and always had a lesson to teach or a story to tell. He led with his actions and pushed for the best out of everyone around him. Anyone who spent time with O.L. came away with an impactful lesson, story, or quote that would stay with them in the future.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Jo (Pearson) Robertson; as well as one sister, Ann Archibald.

Survivors include one daughter, Jessica Carolan and husband Dustin of Mendon, Illinois; two sons, Jason Robertson of Murray, Kentucky and Jonathan Robertson of Mayfield, Kentucky; as well as four grandchildren, Laci Robertson of Murray, Kentucky, Allie Carolan, Devon Carolan, and Bellamy Carolan all of Mendon, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2026, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2026, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
