Mrs. Opal "Tootie" Oakley, age 82, of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Meadows Nursing Home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mrs. Oakley was born in Richmond, Kentucky on December 16, 1933 to the late Robert Sparks and Leota (McKinney) Sparks. Mrs. Oakley retired from the Murray Independent School System and was the former Murray Family Resource Center Coordinator. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and previously served as a board member for the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Oakley is survived by her husband Carl E. Oakley of Murray, Kentucky, to whom she married on January 23, 1953 in Richmond, Kentucky; two daughters, Julie Dawn Manning and husband Michael of Cincinnati, Ohio and JoBeth Ann Branch and husband Richard of Fairview, Tennessee; one son, Jeff Oakley of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Hunter Branch, Tyler Branch, Jason Manning, Jamie Manning, Josh Manning, Hannah Oakley and Jack Henry Oakley; as well as four great-grandchildren, Nolan Manning, Jackson Manning, Adam Manning and Bella Manning.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Stahler and Rev. David Allbritten officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
