Mrs. Opha B. Spiceland, age 93, of Murray, Kentucky died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray.
Mrs. Spiceland was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on September 23, 1926 to the late Ben Bell and Nellie (Emerson) Bell. Mrs. Spiceland was employed with Bell South Telephone Company and later retired from the Murray State University Bookstore. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Esther Sunday School Class. She was a 51-year cancer survivor.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Spiceland was preceded death by her husband, Samuel E. Spiceland, who died on May 29, 2012; and by one sister, Donna Key.
Mrs. Spiceland is survived by one daughter, Vicki Celusta and husband Walt of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; three brothers, JB Bell and wife Alice of Murray, Kentucky, Sam Moss Bell and wife Pam of Ashland, Kentukcy and Jimmy Bell and wife Julia of Murray, Kentucky; one grandchild, Christopher Celusta and wife Kate of Dallas, Texas; as well as two great grandchildren, Isaac and Luke Celusta both of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Inman and Rev. Boyd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until service hour at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
