Mr. Otis B. Brooks, age 96, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at 4:30 a.m. at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray. He was born to the late William and Eliza Best Brooks on March 6, 1914 in Hanson, KY. He was a Marine Veteran of WWII and a member of the First Methodist Church. Mr. Brooks owned and operated “Brooks Woodshop” in Murray from 1961 until 1971; then became employed with the Murray City School System as the maintenance supervisor until his retirement.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his spouse Bernia Raines Brooks in January 2005; three sisters, Mabel Brown, Clara Bone, and Blondella Troncoso; as well as three brothers, Texel Brooks, Tom Brooks, and Dennis Brooks.
Mr. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Nancy Mayne of Indianapolis, IN, and Beverly Whitley of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Steve (Nancy) Brooks of Clarksville, TN; a sister, Mary Agnes (Charles) Sterling of Fredericksburg, VA; two grandchildren, Alex Whitley of Jacksonville, FL, and John Brooks (Elizabeth) Whitley of Belmont, MA; two great-grandchildren, Will and Leila Whitley both of Belmont, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery. Rev. Richard Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, March 29, 2010, from 10:00a.m.-12:30 p.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
