Mrs. Pallie Rose Thompson Kurz of Parklane Dr., Murray, went home to Jesus on September 29, 2010 at 8:55PM. She was born July 5, 1934, to the late Hayden C. and Kathleen Head Thompson in Daviess County, Kentucky. Pallie was an active member of St. Leo Catholic Church, serving on the Pastoral Council, Liturgy Committee, was a Eucharistic Minister, Ministry to Shut-ins, and At the Door Ministries, table leader for the Koinenia Retreats, and served on the Angel’s Attic board from its inception.
Pallie graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1952, received her R.N. from St. Mary’s Nursing School Evansville, In. in 1955, and worked in her profession in Owensboro, Ky., Dayton, Ohio, and Toledo, Ohio, and she retired in 2001 from Murray Calloway County Hospital after 27years of service, where she made many friends, and helped many new nurses. Pallie loved to be with the family on vacations, weddings and birthdays. She loved having visitors for dinner, even on short notice. She loved playing bridge with her longtime friends each month, and ministering to shut-ins for the Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Hayden, Kathleen, and Sadie Thompson, four brothers; Joseph H, Thomas M, and Richard V. Thompson, S. Ray Norris, and one sister Florence Lovejoy.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Paul Nickolas Kurz; two sons, Christopher Paul Kurz and wife Rita of Fairhope, Al., Michael Andrew Kurz and wife Holly of Wayne, Pa.; three daughters, Mary Ann Bell and husband Jeff, of Paducah, Ky., Susan Kathleen Kurz, and Jennifer Lynn Holcomb and husband Kevin, both of Nashville, Tn,.eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Brian, Paul, Emily, and Meredith Kurz, Delaney Bell, Hayden and Nickolas Holcomb, and Rachel Aull, and one great grandchild Joshua Kurz, three brothers, John A. (Jack) and wife Kay, of Ooltewah, Tn., Charles D.(Dan), and Albert M.(Mike) Thompson and wife Cloa, and five sisters, Geraldine Payne and husband Bill, Marilyn Osborne, Beulah Herrell and husband Charles all of Owensboro, Clara Sue Downs of Hopkinsville, Ky.,and Peggy Steinsberger of Speedway, In.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday October 4, 2010 at St. Leo Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Sunday, October 3, 2010 with prayers at 7:30 pm., and after 8:30 am Monday, October 4, 2010 at the funeral Home. J. H. Churchill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
