Paul Leo Dennis, lovingly known as Pops, Phoenix, or Big Poppi, passed away on June 9, 2026, at the age of 64. He was a proud Michigander, but he called Kirksey, Kentucky home for the past 13 years. He took immense pride in Hidden Acres, his slice of God’s Country with his best friend and wife of 26 years, Cindy.
Paul was a friend to all who knew him, and even those who didn’t. He was the definition of a people person, and his warm and caring nature was immediately apparent when you met him. He had the incomparable ability to make a room full of people roar with laughter, and hold their hand through the toughest of times.
Paul loved deeply. He loved loudly. He told people as often as he could.
Paul was a student of life, and of God. Whether it was projects at Hidden Acres, researching history, or in his Bible studies, Paul had an ardent curiosity about everything. He loved Detroit sports, the great outdoors, and spending time with his beloved family.
Paul grew up in Grosse Ile, Michigan and graduated from Grosse Ile High School in 1979. He attended Central Michigan University, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. After college, Paul worked for General Motors, then spent 20 years in insurance, owning the Paul L. Dennis agency. He was the current Regional Continuous Improvement Manager for the Saputo Corporation.
Paul leaves behind a loving family who will be deeply committed to keeping his memory alive. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Dennis. His two daughters, Annie Dennis (Adam) Denaway, and Alyssa Dennis (Mitchell) Haba; two stepsons, Adam (Stephanie) Greene, and Brandon (Sonya) Greene; his grandchildren Riley Greene, Colin Greene, Joe Greene, Madison Greene, Keira Greene, Brooklyn Greene, and Arthur Haba; great granddaughter, Kashlyn Criswell; as well as his loving aunt, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for you to share your stories and consider a donation to Journey Church, 2314 Brinn Road, Murray, Kentucky 42071.
Paul’s family will be honoring his life with a private service, with a celebration of life planned for a later date.
