Paul Nickolas Kurz, Jr. of Murray, Kentucky, went home to Jesus and Pallie on February 12, 2016. He was born August 19, 1934, to the late Paul N. and Mary Elizabeth Kurz in Daviess County, Kentucky. Paul was active in the Knights of Columbus, and in the St. Leo Catholic Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and visiting the home bound, and in the past served on the Pastoral Council, as trustee, and Director of the Parish School of Religion.
Paul graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1952, attended Brescia College, and received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1960. He worked in his profession in Genoa, Ohio, Calvert City and Murray, Ky., and retired from Vanderbilt Chemical Corporation in 1998 after 28 years, participating in plant startups, training operators and helping young men develop. Paul loved family vacations, weddings, and birthdays, and was privileged to minister to shut – ins for the Church. He was preceded in death by Pallie Rose Kurz, his wife of 53 years, his parents Paul N. and Mary E. Kurz, sisters; Maebeth E., Martha Rose Kurz, and Margery F. Lind, and brother John H. Kurz.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Paul and his wife Rita of Fairhope, Al., Michael Andrew and his wife Holly, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, three daughters, Mary Ann Bell, Paducah, KY., Susan Kathleen Kurz of Nashville, Tn., and Jennifer Lynn Holcomb and husband Kevin of Murray, Ky., ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Brian(Courtney), Paul (Kaitlyn), Emily, and Meredith Kurz, Delaney Bell, Hayden and Nickolas Holcomb, Jacob Bell (Bryanna) and Rachel Aull, and great grandsons Joshua, Tristan and Eli, brother, Charles E. Kurz and wife Maureen, of Southern Shores, North Carolina, sisters, Ruth Duncanson of Lansing, Mi., and Mildred Thompson of Vicksburg, Ms.
Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at St. Leo Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the J. H. Churchill Funeral Home. Prayer service will be held 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
