Mr. Paul Woods, age 66 of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House.
He was retired from Murray State University as a mechanic and shop foreman in the motor pool. He was a lifelong and passionate member of the Russell Chapel United Methodist Church where he helped build the new church sanctuary and fellowship hall as well as participated in the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the combined men's group of Palestine, Russell Chapel and Olive United Methodist Churches. He enjoyed camping, 4-wheeler riding and dune buggy riding, with his friends and family. Mr. Woods was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war.
Paul was born September 30, 1951 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Richard O. "Red" and Edna Lois Hodge Woods. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Allen Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Colson Woods of Murray, Kentucky. They were married in Metropolis, Illinois on July 19, 1971. In addition to his wife he is also survived by one son, Paul Jr "Woody" Woods and wife Christie in whom he was blessed to call his daughter, of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Dennis Woods and wife Carolyn of Almo, Kentucky; two grandsons, Jacob Paul Woods and Jarod Thomas Woods. Paul is also survived by a special friend Jerry Hicks, who was with Paul and his family throughout his illness.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Burkeen will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
