Peck Jones

William Arlie " Peck" Jones, native and lifelong resident of Calloway County, died December 23, 2014 at the Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benton, Kentucky.
Mr. Jones was the youngest of ten children born to, Arlie Jones and Harriet Smith Jones. He was born on February 16, 1928. He grew up in the Dexter, Kentucky community and attended school at Brooks Chapel and Almo. He was a member of Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1945- 1946 stationed in the Philippines and was an MP during his time of duty.
On September 20, 1947, after returning from military service, he married Martha Nell Beale Jones. Two children were born into this union: Marcia Jones and Barry Jones He worked at various jobs as a young man in both Calloway County and Detroit, Michigan. Later he opened Peck's Upholstery in Murray, Kentucky operated a successful business for twenty-one years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Martha, his son Barry, four brothers Rural Jones & wife Mildred Biffle Jones, James Wesley Jones & wife Abolene Stone Jones, T. P. " Pete" Jones & wife Myrtle Chapman Jones, and Cantrell Jones & wife Pauline Hale Jones and five sisters Della Vina Jones ( who died in infancy), Alpha Jones Williams & husband Victor Williams , Nellie May Jones Ramsey & husband Johnny Ramsey , Venice Jones Travis & husband Tom Edd Travis, and Mary Opal Jones Hopkins & husband Charles Hopkins.
In addition to his daughter Marcia Jones Crick and husband David, he is survived by two grandchildren Daina Crick Buhler and husband Eddie Buhler of Lexington, Kentucky and Darren Crick and wife Ashley of Dexter, Kentucky. Four great- grandchildren also survive: Zachary Buhler, Cody Buhler, Averie Crick and Logan Crick and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Bro. Paul Bogard and Patricia Jones Lassiter will officiate with burial to follow in the Brooks Chapel Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
