Perry Cavitt

Mr. Perry Cavitt, age 96, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at his home.                        

Mr. Cavitt was born on November 30, 1927, in Farmington, Kentucky to the late Brinkley Cavitt and Ruth (Nanny) Cavitt. Mr. Cavitt was a retired self-employed custom-building contractor and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murray where he served on several mission trips to Brazil and Russia. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club where he was awarded “Man of the Year” awards in 1977 and 1988. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Angels Medical Clinic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Overby) Cavitt; one sister, Elizabeth Cavitt Bright; as well as his twin brother, Terry Cavitt.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana Hale (Kent) of Murray, Kentucky and Vicki Moffitt (Charles) of Springfield, Tennessee; one son, Mickey Lynn Cavitt of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Kerry Hale (Cheri) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Doug Burton (Lisa) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Cassie Goode (Scott) of Searcy, Arkansas, Emily Williams (Mike) of Hollansburg, Ohio, and Ceci Varnell (Daniel) of Nolensville, Tennessee; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, Matthew Burton, Leslie Abigail Burton-Jarboe (James), Heather Burton, Donovan Varnell, Dustyn Varnell, Dawson Varnell, Cavitt Hale, Anna Goode, Caroline Goode, Cody Williams, and Conner Williams.

The family appreciates his wonderful team of caregivers. 

            A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Terry Bourland officiating. A private family burial will be held at Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
