Philip U. Moore

Philip U. Moore of Murray, KY, passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 80 surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Philip Moore was born in 1943 in New York City to Robert F. and Gertrude P. Moore. He grew up in Scarsdale, NY. He loved sailing and golf. He sailed on the Long Island Sound and caddied at famed Winged Foot Golf Club. He graduated from Parsons College in IA and formed life-long friendships at Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He had a successful career in management for diverse companies like TWA Air Cargo, Commercial Office Furniture, INMAC, Surplus Direct, and Egghead. After retiring to Murray, he worked in Real Estate alongside his wife and participated in local organizations like Murray Main Street, Board of Realtors, and Murray State Racer Club.

Philip Moore was an animal lover since he was a child and adopted several dogs and cats throughout his life. He was an avid gardener, a skill he inherited from his mother. He loved to travel and visit the beach. He loved to play golf and watch sports especially the Murray State Racers men’s basketball team.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. Moore and Gertrude Percy Crone; stepfather Lester A. Crone; his sister Rev. Nancy Roth; sister-in-law Jean Moore; and many beloved relatives, in-laws, and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; children Ellen (Bryant) and George (Stephanie); brother Robert F Moore, Jr.; brother-in-law Robert Roth; grandchildren Claire, Bradley, Adelaide, and Harriet; and many relatives, friends, and business associates.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
