Polly Garland

Mary Irene "Polly" Garland, age 84, of Prospect, Kentucky formerly of Murray, Kentucky died at her home on Friday, May 29, 2015.

Mrs. Garland was born in Calloway County Kentucky on December 24, 1930 to the late Noble Fitts and Ronda Roberts Fitts. Mrs. Garland was a former member of the West Murray Church of Christ. She was an active member of the Murray Woman's Club, the Murray Country Club and had served as Girl Scout Cookie Chairman. Mrs. Garland also initiated the "Safe Place" program for children in Murray.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garland was preceded in death by her husband, Eurie Garland, who passed July of 2010; two sons, Johnny Garland and Ronnie Garland; one brother, Cecil Fitts; and two sisters, Mildred Grogan and Jane Lovett.

Mrs. Garland is survived by two daughters, Pam Underwood and husband Max of Prospect, Kentucky and Rhonda Johnson of Bowling Green, Kentucky; as well as five grandchildren, John Underwood and wife Amy, Mary Underwood, James Johnson, Hannah Hendon and husband Billy and Heather Johnson; as well as two great grandchildren, Maria and Andrew Underwood.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Brother Dave Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Outland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
