Mr. Ray Broach, 87, of Murray, Kentucky died Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Broach was born in Lynn Grove, Ky on December 30, 1926, and lived and raised his family in Coldwater, KY. He was a graduate of Kirksey High School, and obtained his B.S. in agriculture from Murray State University. He taught veterans agriculture in Graves and Hickman Counties. He retired as Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agent after 37 years of service. He also served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Christian Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, Ollie Broach and Izetta Crouch Broach, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Kenton, Rex, Barber, Fred, and Hugh Franklin Broach.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Rhodes Broach, of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he was married in 1952; one son, Terry Broach, two daughters, Gale Broach Cornelison, and Kathie Broach Pierce and husband Michael, all of Murray; five grandchildren, Casey Cornelison Thomas and husband Bryan of Fort Collins, CO, Clint Cornelison of Murray, Clay Cornelison of Owensboro, Taylor Pierce of Nashville, and Logan Pierce of Boston; four great-grandchildren, Katie, Avery, Emma and Wrigley Thomas of Ft. Collins, CO.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Phillp Bazzell and Rev. Rick Dye will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral hour (1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
