R.B. Mitchell

Mr. R.B. Mitchell, age 84, of Murray, KY, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Mitchell was born in Collins, Mississippi on Dec. 28, 1925 to the late Fleet and Mary Knight Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell in 1961 established the Mitchell Paving Company in Murray, which is now operated by his two sons. A navy veteran of WWII and a 50 year Master Mason, belonging to the Murray Masonic Lodge #105. Mr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a minor in music and a major in education. He was of Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, June Lovell Mitchell of Murray, in which they were married on January 10, 1953 in Bay Springs, Mississippi, also surviving is one daughter, Jackie Edwards and husband Ricky, two sons, Rocky Mitchell, Guy Mitchell and wife Sherry, as well as three grandchildren, Brittain, Bryceton, and Cassity Mitchell all of Murray.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be held prior to funeral service on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
