Mrs. Rhoda Sue Pocock, age 93, of Murray, Kentucky, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Spring Creek Health care in Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Pocock was born March 2, 1922 in Murray, Kentucky, to the late Jacob Levi and Kate Daniel Mahan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherman Pocock, on July 11, 1984; step son, Johnny R. Pocock, three sisters, Beurdean Wrather, Grace Duke, and Emma Steele.
Mrs. Pocock was a graduate of Murray Training School and Murray State College with a B.S. degree in mathematics and business. She was retired from Murray Tappan Manufacturing Plant having spent 21 years as Personnel Assistant and 12 years as Purchasing Assistant. Prior to her tenure with Tappan, Mrs. Pocock spent 2 years with Civil Service in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and taught one year at Almo High School. She was a 50 year member of Murray Star Chapter #433 Order of Eastern Star and a life member of Murray State University Alumni Association. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include her step daughter, Lynda Pocock Chaney and husband Joe of Murray; grandson, Joe Chaney III and wife Julie of The Woodlands, Texas, granddaughter, Chanon Chaney of Wallingford, Connecticut; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, and Jared Chaney, Chera, and Lexi Chaney-Robinson, niece, Jane Warrilow of Dresden, Tennessee, and nephew Bob Steele of Paducah, Kentucky, as well as great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Jim Stahler will officiate, and burial will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
