Richard F. "Dick" Weaver

March 1, 1927 — February 7, 2018

Dr. Richard F. (Dick) Weaver, 90, passed away February 7, 2018. Born on March 1st, 1927, he was a Fort Wayne, Indiana native. He was the son of the late Theodore & Margaret (Martin) Weaver. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945 and immediately entered the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. When the Korean War began he re-enlisted and entered the 3rd Ranger school offered by the Army, completing over 300 jumps as a paratrooper. He received numerous commendations and was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant.

He returned home and attended Indiana University completing his under-graduate and graduate work. More importantly this is when he met the love of his life, Janice Farmer. Dick and Jan both had successful careers, but when not working they enjoyed fishing, working on the farm, and travelling the world. He was preceded in death by Jan in 2009 after 51 loving years of marriage.

His working career began as a manager at RCA in Bloomington, IN. Working on the controls for the lunar landing module was one of his most satisfying projects. Ultimately promoted to the corporate staff Dick retired after 20 years and moved into consulting as VP-Director of the International Consulting Company. There he provided all facets of productivity services, including work factor measuring standards. Dick formed his own consulting group and over a 15-year period delivered Management Development programs to nearly 300 major corporations, 40 universities, 30 municipalities, and 20 hospitals. He distinguished himself as an industrial engineering expert and contributed to many publications.

For the past 33 years Dick has called Murray, Ky home. He has been a faithful member of Saint Leo's Catholic parish since his arrival and has served numerous organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Rotary, CASA, and most recently the Murray-Calloway County Community Foundation, Inc., where he is one of the founding Board Members. Dick and Jan's philanthropic interests have been broad, giving substantial financial support to Murray State University and to various Community projects over the years. Notable recognition is a Doctor of Humane Letters from Murray State, Kentucky Colonel, 2014 Rotarian of the year, and Murray-Calloway County Philanthropist of the year in 2016. Support of the Community will continue through their foundation for many years to come.

He was preceded in death by brothers James and Robert Weaver, Brother-in-law Harold Farmer, and Sister-in-laws Joan, Nancy, and Marilyn Weaver, and Dorothy Farmer. Surviving are his beloved sister Marie and brother-in-law Lloyd France, brother Theodore (Ted) Weaver, and sister-in-law Phyliss Weaver. Additionally, there are 23 nieces, nephews, and their families that all had a special place in his heart.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the St. Leo Catholic Church. Father Brandon Williams and Father Jason McClure will officiate. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Fordsville, Kentucky.
