Mr. Richard "Cotton" Hopkins, age 72, of Huntsville, Alabama formerly of Murray, Kentucky died on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Brookshire Rehabilitation in Huntsville, Alabama.
Mr. Hopkins was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 3, 1943 to the late Troy Hopkins and Louise Brown Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a carpenter, was of the Church of Christ Faith, and a United States Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Hopkins of Huntsville, Alabama, to whom he married on December 23, 1974; one son, Richard Anthony "Tony" Hopkins and wife Darla of Trenton, Tennessee; one step son, David Childress of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters, Kay Crass and husband Joe of Fulton, Kentucky and Jean Ann Hopkins of Fulton, Kentucky; one brother, Joe Hopkins and wife Brenda of Fulton, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Houston Hopkins, Morgan Hopkins, Shelton Hopkins and Ramsey Hopkins all of Trenton, Tennessee and Zackary Childress and Corey Childress both of Huntsville, Alabama; and daughter-in-law, Dionna Childress of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Howe officiating. Burial will follow at the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until funeral hour.
