Mr. Richard Burgess Parker, III, age 77, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray.
Mr. Parker was born in Murray, Kentucky on December 28, 1941, to the late Richard Burgess Parker, Jr. and Mary Frances (Hargrove) Parker. Mr. Parker before retiring, managed several restaurants in the area and he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents Mr. Parker was preceded in death by an infant sister, Diana Parker.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Sharon Parker of Murray, Kentucky, whom he married on August 11, 1972 in Murray, Kentucky; three daughters, Kimberly Scott and husband Bryan of Almo, Kentucky, Kelly Yoke and husband Daniel of Murray, Kentucky, and Leigh Anne Hollen of Murray, Kentucky; two sons, Kevin Gassam of Hazel, Kentucky and Gary Gassam, Jr. of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, David Parker and wife Roberta of Midway, Kentucky and Edward Parker and wife Connie of Rogers, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Kristin Yoke, Jessica Byars, Amy Yoke, Bryan Scott, Jr., Will Schwettman, Parker Nance, Jace Hollen and Giulianna Reed; as well as six great-grandchildren, Leighton and Jamie Long, Hayden and Lane Litchfield, Eliza Jean Reed and Ryleigh Burton.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW, Post #6291. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside service on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
