Rita Burkeen

Mrs. Rita Burkeen, age 58, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Mrs. Burkeen was born on June 12, 1961, in Mayfield, Kentucky. She was a retired pre-school teacher at Kingdom Kids Learning Center and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Burkeen was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Dick Evitts.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry M. Burkeen of Murray, Kentucky; to whom she married on December 17, 1988, in Lynnville, Kentucky; her father, Vernon Evitts and wife Beverly of Paris, Tennessee; two sons, Cameron Burkeen of Murray, Kentucky and Aaron Burkeen of Southwick, Massachusetts; one brother, Ronnie Evitts and wife Denise of Arlington, Kentucky; as well as two nieces, Carrie Evitts and Kimberly Evitts both of Arlington, Kentucky.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at the Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Burkeen and Rev. Kendrick Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynnville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Westside Baptist Church.
