Robert Eugene Hicks

Mr. Robert E. Hicks Sr. age 79, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Mr. Hicks was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist church; he worked at Tappan Manufacturing Company, as well as an auto diesel mechanic; an Army Veteran of the Korean War; and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Hicks was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on October 20, 1933 to the late Robert Leland and Mattie Evelyn Trout Hicks.

He is survived by his spouse, Annette Leath of Murray, Kentucky; four daughters, Deborah Benham and husband J.W. of Union City, Tennessee, Cheryl Hicks and husband Sammy Chadwick of Murray, Kentucky, Melissa Petik and husband Andrew of Murray, Kentucky, Rebecca Key and husband Robert of Murray, Kentucky; three sons, Michael Hicks and special friend Ann of Newton, Kansas, Robert E. Hicks Jr. and wife Sara of Murray, Kentucky, David Hicks and wife Amy of Fulton, Kentucky; one sister, Betty Meadows Mohundro and husband William of Murray, Kentucky. Eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
