Mr. Robert "Mike" Rogers age 56, of Puryear, Tennessee, also known as Michael T. to his family and close friends, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Bakersfield, California.
Mr. Rogers was born in Livingston County Kentucky on September 27, 1956 to the late Robert Rogers and Ruth Macdonald Rogers Robinson. He was the owner and operator of Mike Rogers Trucking Company and he was of Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his parents Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by two brothers, Marty Robinson and John Rogers; and by a step grandchild, Corey Sykes.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Rogers of Puryear, Tennessee, to whom he married on June 1, 1985 in Murray, Kentucky; two step daughters, Dawn Sykes of Chicago, Ilinois and Kimberly Yarbrough and husband Loyd of Jacksonville, Florida; two step sons, James Sykes of Chicago, Illinois and Mike Sykes of Murray; four step grandchildren, Bre Sykes of West Wendover, Nevada, Sean Rodriguez of Jacksonville, Florida, Heather Rodriguez of Jacksonville, Florida and Liam Sykes of Murray; and by his trucking family, which was by his side on Sunday until paramedics arrived; and special friends at Anne's Kitchen and at Gallimore Equipment.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale officiating and special remarks by Bre Sykes, Jim Sykes, Glynn Gallimore and Michael Dean Rogers. A private burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 5: 00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
