Mr. Ronnie Sills, age 79, of Murray, Kentucky, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, with John Dale, Jason Hart, and Brock Barker officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
Mr. Sills was born September 12, 1935 in Dover, Tennessee, to the late Gilbert and Opal Hosford Sills. He retired from the United Stated Air Force in 1974 after 20 years of service, which included 2 tours in Europe, and 1 tour in Vietnam. After retiring he worked 23 years at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. After retiring from 2 careers he enjoyed traveling, and Murray State Football, and Basketball, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Glendale Rd. Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by grandson Kyle Harper, his parents, 1 brother- Chester Sills, one sister-n-law, and his stepfather.
Mr. Sills is survived by his wife Sue Mathis Sills of Murray, whom he married on May 7, 1960, in Puryear, Tennessee two daughters, Pam Sills Harper and husband Dewayne of Murray, Dana Sills and Donnie Hart of Puryear, Tennessee, 2 grandchildren, Darby Harper Lax and husband Dustin of Murray, Cody Hart of Puryear, and 1 great granddaughter, Hailey Jade Harper of Murray.
