Roy Gene Dunn

Mr. Roy Gene Dunn, age 69, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mr. Dunn was born in Murray, Kentucky on November 11, 1944 to the late William Everett Dunn and M. Falay (McClure) Dunn. Mr. Dunn had previously worked for Chuck's Music Store for 20 years, was a former bus driver for the Calloway County School System and had recently retired as the Maintenance Director for the Calloway County School Buildings and Grounds. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church; there he served as the choir director, taught Sunday School and served as an elder. He was also a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Gamma Delta Chapter and was an Army veteran, while serving in the Vietnam Era.

Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife Cecilia Faye Cavitt Dunn of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on December 31, 1965 at the North Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Murray; two daughters, Carole Downs and husband Terry of Murray, Kentucky and Christina Hamilton and husband Kevin of Martin, Tennessee; two brothers, Danny M. Dunn of Murray, Kentucky and Nicky Dunn and wife Lucille of Lone Oak, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dusenbury and husband Matt of Cadiz, Kentucky, Kadin Hamilton and Cody Hamilton both of Martin, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Preston and Paxton Dusenbury both of Cadiz, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October, 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen H. Guarneros and Rev. Randy Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
