Mr. Roy Jr. Penley age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Penley was born December 7, 1925 in Saint Anne, Illinois to the late Roy Elsworth and Goldie May Burt Penley. Roy was a retired paint sprayer for A.O. Smith Co., was a Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of the American Legion. Roy was also a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church, and was a former deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannie Penley, three brothers, Ted, John, and George Penley, son in law, Cecil Cowsert, and two sisters in law, Betti Penley, and Madelyn Penley.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Marg Penley of Murray, Kentucky; two daughters, Gloria Cowsert of Murray, Kentucky, and Andrea Holderman and husband Dennis of Kirksey, Kentucky; one son, Butch Penley and wife Sharon of Murray, Kentucky; two sisters, Wilma Rattin and husband Clyde of Saint Anne, Illinois, and Mary Karnagy and husband Avery of South Carolina; two brothers, Vernon Penley and wife Evelyn of New Castle, Indianan, and Larry Penley of Cincinnati; two sisters in law, Betty Johnson and husband Paul of Saint Anne, Illinois, and Theresa Penley of Watseka, Illinois; also eight grandchildren, and twenty two great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Pastor Andy Harrell will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 5-8 p.m., at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
