Russell Sheeks

Dr. Russell Wayne Sheeks, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky as a result of an accidental fall.
Dr. Sheeks was a retired professor of Philosophy at Murray State University. Dr. Sheeks was an Army and Merchant Seaman veteran of WWII and a member of the American Veterans Post in Paris Landing Tennessee.
Dr. Sheeks was born January 9, 1926 in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Charles and Nancy Taylor Sheeks. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Sheeks, who died November 9, 1994; one son, Captain Rodney Wayne Sheeks; four brothers, Reed Sheeks, Ralph Sheeks, Robert Sheeks and Sam Sheeks.
He is survived by two daughters, Edith Sheeks of Tallahassee, Florida, Teresa Mae Goodson and husband James of Dothan, Alabama; two sons, Charles Sheeks and wife Gina of Cataula, Georgia and Clark Sheeks of Murray, Kentucky; a special friend, Marie Higgins of Murray, Kentucky; as well as seven grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2011 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
