Ruth I Collett

Mrs. Ruth I. "Smith" Collett, age 77 of Murray, Kentucky died on May 31, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Collett was born in Benton, Kentucky on March 30, 1939 to Willie Smith and Rhonda Smith-Morefield. She was a retired nurse and homemaker.

Mrs. Collett is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Dee Witt Collett, who passed away on April 26, 1997; and two brothers, J.F. Smith of Mayfield, Kentucky and Rondel G. Smith of Murray, Kentucky; and one step-daughter, Deidra Collett.

Mrs. Collett is survived by her daughter, Carol Howell and husband Curtis of North Carolina; one niece, Christi Spann and husband Rickie of Murray, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Annette Smith of Kirksey, Kentucky; one step-daughter, Sharon Gail Green of Mayfield, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Charlie and Kaitlyn Dee Howell of North Carolina, Mason Spann of Murray, Kentucky, Jessica Hamilton, Josh Hamilton, and Danielle Langston all of Mayfield, Kentucky ; also one great-grandchild, Liam Howell of North Carolina survives.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
