Mr. Samuel "Sam" Spiceland age 87 of Murray, Ky., died Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Glendale Place of Murray, Ky.
Mr. Spiceland was born Nov. 17, 1924 in Calloway Co., Ky. to the late F.H. Spiceland Sr. and Sally Herndon Spiceland.
He was retired from Bell South after nearly 34 years of service, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murray. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and was a member of the Murray Country club, and a very avid golfer.
Mr. Spiceland is survived by his wife, Opha Bell Spiceland of Murray; they married May 15, 1943 in Charleston, Mo., daughter, Vicki Celusta and husband Walter of Knoxville, Tn., three brothers, F.H. Spiceland of Providence, Ky., Cecil Spiceland of Reidland, Ky., and Bobby Spiceland and wife Rose Mary of Providence, Ky. Grandson, Capt. Christopher Celusta and wife Kate of Pensacola, Fl. Great grandson, Luke Edward Celusta of Pensacola, Fl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Hera Jane Lindsey, Ann Mae Hopkins, and Louren McCage.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
